Smingler, Contracting Officer, (703)681-1235 The Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) will issue a Request For Proposal (RFP) for Defense Information Systems Network Earth Terminals (DETs) on or about 01 April 1997. The RFP seeks offerors capable of providing commercially available earth terminal systems now and new bands (including, but not limited to: Ka-band, and Commercial X-band) as soon as they become commercially available. The objective of the requirement is to acquire (lease-with-option-to-purchase or purchase) interoperable and logistically supportable C-band and Ku-band and new bands (including, but not limited to: Ka-band, and Commercial X-band) satellite earth terminals composed of commercial-off-the shelf (COTS) equipment, components and parts, under a fixed price, indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract for use by the Department of Defense and its Services and Agencies and by other Federal Agencies. The terminals may be acquired for use on a world-wide basis and the solicitation will include options for contractor operation and maintenance during the life of the contract. The terminals planned for acquisition will vary in antenna size (e.g., 2.4 meter, 4.6 meter, 11 meter, 15 meter) and configuration (e.g.,C-band Gateway, C-band Standard Trunk, Ku-band Gateway, Ku-band Trunk, etc.).
