The Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) will issue a Request For Proposal (RFP) for Defense Information Systems Network Earth Terminals -- Global (DETs -- G) on or about 01 April 1997. The RFP seeks offerors capable of providing commercially available earth terminal systems now available and new bands (including, but not limited to: Ka-band and Commercial X-band) as soon as they become commercially available. The objective of the requirement is to acquire (purchase or lease-with-option-to-purchase) interoperable and logistically supportable C-band and Ku-band satellite earth terminals and new band (including, but not limited to: Ka-band and Commercial X-band) satellite earth terminals composed of commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) equipment, components and parts under a fixed price, indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract. The Department of Defense, including its Services and Agencies, and other Departments of the Federal Government will be able to satisfy their requirements for earthterminal stations through this contract. The terminals may be acquired for installation and use on a world-wide basis and the contract will include options for contractor installation, operations and maintenance during the life of the contract. The terminals planned for acquisition will vary in antenna size (e.g., 2.4 meter, 4.6 meter, 11 meter, 15 meter, etc.) and configuration (e.g., C-band Gateway, C-band Standard Trunk, Ku-band Gateway, Ku-band Standard Trunk, etc.).
