The project consists of providing all labor, material, equipment and services required to relocate the BMEU at the Philadelphia, PA Processing & Distribution Center. The work shall include, but not be limited to, demolition of work areas within the Truck Terminal Annex, relocating break area, new walls and partitions, electrical and mechanical work, architectural finishes for retail/store area (in accordance with U. S. Postal Service standards), handicap lift, front doors, holes in concrete for new entrance and windows, re-routing pedestrian traffic, striping parking lot, cabinetry and installation of U. S. Postal Service provided equipment. Phasing: A swing room must be open at all times; therefore, the new swing room must be open and accepted by the Postal Service prior to demolition of the existing swing room. Training will be required for BMEU personnel -- maintenance, HVAC, etc. Contractor must be experienced in retail areas and carpentry and must have successfully completed at least three (3) projects of similar size and scope within the last five (5) years. The estimated cost range is between $400,000.00 and $550,000.00, with a construction completion date of 165 calendar days after receipt of Notice to Proceed. A preproposal conference is scheduled for March 18, 1997, at 1:00 p.m., Room 580, 2970 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA. A walk-through will follow immediately thereafter.
