912/652-5294 Description of Work: Four existing asphalt taxiways used
for loading/unloading of hot cargo at Pope AFB, North Carolina require
upgrades and repairs. This project involves the milling of bituminous
asphalt and replacement with both new asphalt and new concrete
pavement. The taxiways will be finally configured as 75 feet wide with
50-foot paved shoulders with vehicle staging pads at each aircraft
parking spot. The work includes all necessary pavement striping and
installation of taxiway lighting circuits and fixtures. Also included
is all necessary demolition and reconfiguration of existing supporting
utilities. The area is presently set up providing four aircraft
parking spots. The final configuration will maintain this basic
configuration. Construction phasing will be part of the work so as to
keep two of the four parking spaces open at all times. Some work will
be required immediately adjacent to the active runway. This work is to
be coordinated with the installation airfield management office a
minimum of 45 days ahead of actual work accomplishment and done between
2200 and 0600 hours and preferably on weekends. Estimated cost range of
project is from $1,000,000 to $5,000,000. Solicitation documents will
be available March 28, 1997. In order to receive documents in a timely

solicitation is issued on an unrestricted basis pursuant to the
"Business Opportunity Development Reform Act of 1988" (Public Law
