largest OEM tire shall be furnished. Spare tire assembly (inflated and
mounted to the rim) is to be similar to that on the front axles. A
spare tire compartment/carrier shall be furnished. Brakes shall be of
non-asbestos type material, conforming to all motor carrier safety
regulations 393.40 through 393.43 and 393.45 through 39 3.52. Air dryer
system of the standard type, will be furnished and installed by the
chassis manufacturer. CAB will be of the standard type, and will have
tilt capability. Power assisted steering shall be furnished. Two-speed,
intermittent windshield wipers and washers shall be furnished. Duel 50
gallon fuel tanks shall be furnished. Air conditioning, dual mirrors,
AM /FM stereo radio, and rear-view television system shall be
furnished by the chassis and van body manufactures. Van body
dimensions, exterior and interior to be as follows: overall width,
inclusive of mirrors, lights and reflectors shall be not more than 96
inches. Overall height shall be not more than 154 inches. Overall
length shall be not more than 40 feet. Interior length of van body
shall be not less than 34-1 /2 feet. Interior width shall be not less
than 90 inches. Interior height shall be not less than 90 inches.
Construction of the body and roof framing shall be constructed of
aluminum extrusions of nominal 0.125 inch thickness and or not less
than 1-1/2 inch square tubular high tensile steel. Body framing shall
be braced at all points of stress. Body and floor frame members shall
be installed on nomimal, not less than 16-INCH centers. Door and window
frames shall be reinforced and gusseted to prevent torsional twisting.
The lower front corners of the van body shall be protected by 3-M,
Mylar or equal, gravel Guards. Exterior side, END, and roof panels
shall be constructed of aluminum Sheets of an alloy and thickness
adequate to provide the required strength. Sheets shall be overlapped
and double sealed with alumelastic sealing compound, or equal. The
body, roof, and panel jointsshall be watertight and leak proof. Unless
toggle bolts are used, plywood tapping plates shall be installed to
secure ceiling mounting fluorescent light fixtures. Supports and
reinforcements shall be provided for the installation of cabinets,
lights and equipment. In additional to driver's and passenger doors in
the CAB, double entrance/exit doors shall be provided on the curbside
of the van body. Doors shall be of aluminum faced plywood core, one
piece molded fiberglass plastic laminate construction, or Pan type
constructed of .0125 "aluminum, with aluminum tube reinforcement. Doors
shall be equipped with chromed grab handles. Five hehr or equal tinted,
heat absorbing, sliding safety glass windows with insect screens shall
be installed within the body sides, three at curbside and two on the
Street side. Windows shall be adjustable to various desired positions,
and be rattle proof, waterproof and windproof when closed. Insulation
shall be provided in the exterior doors, walls, floor and ceiling of
the body. Insulation shall be of the FOAMED-IN-PLACE type, having a
moisture absorption capacity of less than 2 percent by weight. The
FOAMED-IN-PLACE urethane insulation shall be on a non-formaldehyde
based compound. Materials shall be odorless and fire retardant and
provide Shear strength sufficient to prevent SAG of the insulation. The
interior of the body sides, front, rear, and ceiling shall be
