66 -- FURNISH AERODYNAMIC PARTICLE SIZER AND ASSOCIATED AEROSOL DILUTERS FOR NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH, MORGANTOWN, WV SOL 97-005 DUE 032897 POC Brenda Goodwin, (304) 285-5882; Contracting Officer, Rex S. Wolfe, (304) 285-5883. The National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) plans to procure three (3) Aerodynamic Particle Size Spectrometers with associated Aerosol Diluters. The missions of the NIOSH Health Effects Laboratory Division in exposure assessment include the evaluation of real-time direct reading instruments for chemical, physical, and biological agents and the research for exposure characterization to improve understanding of exposure measurements as predictors of dose and response. In house capabilities to monitor aerosol particles and to determine their aerodynamic and other properties are essential for understanding particle deposition mechanisms and consequently for conducting inhalation and possible dermal exposure assessments. Current and future research interests in silica dust, metal fume and airborne bioorganisms will require the monitoring capability of particle size distribution, mass concentration, light scattering intensity and possibly particle density. These new units will provide the capability to conduct fast, in situ, and real-time monitoring in these aerosols. Request of Proposal Number 97-005, which will be issued on or about March 17, 1997, and contains the complete specifications that must be met by any offer to be considered for award. This procurement action is a 100% set-aside for small business concerns only. The SIC Code for this requirement is 3829 with a size standard of 500 employees.
