784-5826. The Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM) is requesting
information for the following ADPE equipment. NO SOLICITATION EXISTS AT
THIS TIME. The U.S. Marine Corps is conducting market research to seek
sources, contract vehicles, technical information, and approximate
costing for Portable Servers. The Portable Servers shall have the
following technical specifications: 1) Compatibility: The system shall
be certified to operate Microsoft Windows NT version 4.0 and/or Banyan
VINES version 6.x without modification. Please state on your response
which operating systems the proposed system is certified to operate and
which are not. 2) Dimensions: The system chassis or enclosure shall be
capable of mounting into a standard 19" rack without modification. 3)
Processor(s) and Motherboard: a. The system shall use an Intel
chipset. b. The system shall be capable of supporting an Intel 200MHz
Pentium Pro with 512KB Level 2 Cache. c. The system board shall be
upgradeable to incorporate a second 200MHz Pentium ProCPU with 512KB
Level 2 Cache. d. System RAM shall be upgradeable to a minimum of 1GB
ECC RAM. e. The system shall have a minimum of 4 PCI and 2 EISA
expansion slots. f. System Bus shall be 100% compatible EISA/PCI. g.
The system shall be of Slot Independent Architecture design thus
allowing for the adding of additional network cards and/or
communications controllers irrespective of slot position. h. The system
shall include an upgradable Flash BIOS. i. The system shall include a
dual channel SCSI controller. j. The system shall at a minimum have 1
multi-mode bi-directional parallel port and 2 high-speed 16550 UART
compatible serial ports. k. The system shall include an
auto-terminating external SCSI port. l. The system shall include real
time clock and calendar. 4) Hard Disk Storage: The system shall be
capable of supporting a minimum of two, front accessible, hot
swappable, SCSI disk drives. 5) Front Accessible Media Bays: The system
shall be configured with a minimum of four, front accessible, media
bays to support the following devices: a. A CD-ROM drive. b. A DDS-2
DAT tape drive with a minimum capacity of 8GB. c. A 3.5" 1.44MB floppy
disk drive. d. A PC Card Reader. 6) Monitors: The system shall be
capable of supporting a 15" color monitor with a minimum resolution of
1024x768 @ 75Hz and a dot pitch of .28, as well as 12.1", 14" and 16"
LCD displays. 7) Keyboard: The system shall include a keyboard with an
integrated pointing device and be able to fit in a 19 inch rack sliding
drawer. 8) Power Supply: a. The system shall include a Dual Hot
Swappable power supply capable of supporting the system under maximum
load. The power supply system shall include with visual and audible
alarms. b. The system shall include an UPS interface cable for server
shutdown. 9) Transportability: Information is also requested regarding
solutions to transport the system specified above. Potential solutions
include but are not limited to: A carrying case capable of
transporting: a. The system unit. b. An LCD display of up to 16". c. A
Portable UPS. d. The keyboard. e. Interface cables. f. System Manuals.
A mobile communications hub based on a 19 inch rack enclosure capable
of transporting the items listed above. This request is for information
