Y -- PREQUALIFICATION STATEMENTS ARE SOLICITED FROM CONTRACTORS INTERESTED IN BEING PLACED ON THE PREQUALIFIED CONTRACTORS LIST FOR CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW CONSTRUCTION OWNED POSTAL FACILITY SOL 072976-97-A-0096 DUE 040497 POC Donna Johnson (303)220-6538, Contract Administration; Joel Roitenberg (303)220-6524, Project Manager; Mike Smith (303)751-0741, Project Architect, Merrick & Company This is a notice of intent to prequalify the most highly qualified General Contractors for the construction of a new Main Post Office/Delivery Distribution Center facility in Golden, Colorado. The work will include, but not limited to, earthwork, installation of site and building retaining walls, concrete curb & gutter, concrete and asphalt paving, concrete sidewalks and ramps, a post-tension slab-on-grade foundation system, lightweight integral steel stud and precast concrete curtainwall panel system, lightweight integral steel stud and precast concrete bearing wall panel system, integrally colored concrete masonry, metal windows and storefront system with insulated glazing, fully adhered EPDM membrane roof on rigid insulation, the design and installation of factory-finished metal carrier loading canopy system, electro-hydraulic dock levelers and flip ramps, facility electrical and mechanical systems, a fire sprinkler system, complete audio-visual security camera system, steel columns, joists, andjoist girders, site lighting, metal fencing and site signage, paint striping, and landscaping. The interior of the facility will consists of painted gypsum board walls ceramic tile, vinyl composition tile, and carpeted floors, asphalt plank flooring, acoustical tile and painted gypsum board ceilings, hollow metal doors and frames, wood doors, custom millwork with laminate finishes, and the preparation, finishing, and installation of Postal-provided equipment. The facility is an approximate 72,000 square foot facility that will be constructed on a 9.9 acre site. The estimated cost range of the project is $7,500,000 to $8,500,000 and will be completed within a 385 calendar day time frame starting with the Notice to Proceed. Planned construction starting date is July 1, 1997. Prequalification statements will be evaluated by the contracting officer's General Contractor Prequalification Selection Board and all firms will be advised within 60 days after April 4, 1997. Primary factors that will be considered are: experience, management plan, organization, financial capability, and backlog. Other factors to be considered will include: past performance, self-performed work and MBE and WBE. Firms selected as being the most highly qualified will be placed on the prequalification list for the Golden, Colorado -- Main Post Office/Delivery Distribution Center.
