D -- ABSTRACTED MEDICAL RECORS DATA SOL 97C707004 POC Susan P. Moran, Contracting Officer (301) 443-0705 DHHS/CDC/PHS/DAM intends to purchase for the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) abstracted medical records data on magnetic tape for 47 specific hospitals from HCIA, Inc., in Ann Arbor, Michigan under SIC code 7379. The data is proprietary and cannot be purchased from any other hospitals or from any other abstract service. The discharge data required is Uniform Hospital Discharge Data Set (UHDDS) data for January-December 1996. The 47 hospitals scientifically selected by NCHS staff are located throughout the United States and are clients of HCIA, Inc. Because of NCHS confidentiality requirements, the names of the individual hospitals cannot be provided. Only organizations of a magnitude to be able to submit UHDDS data on at least 100 hospitals throughout the country should submit their client list for review. This action for which the Government intends to solicit one source is under the authority of far 6.302-1. Interested vendors that are capable of providing the required service are invited to submit in writing, substantiating information explaining their ability to meet this requirement. All responsible sources will be considered. No solicitation is available; therefore, requests for such documents will be considered invalid responses.
