Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division, China Lake, CA, 93555-6100,
plans to drill three (3) geothermal temperature gradient test holes at
the Naval Air Weapons Station (NAWS), China Lake, CA. Two of the test
holes will be to an estimated depth of 4,000 feet, and the third test
hole will be to an estimated depth of 2,000 feet with options to extend
and complete this test hole to an estimated total depth of 3,000 feet.
These test holes will be used by the Navy's Geothermal Program Office
in its resource potential investigations of the NAWS Mainside area.
The requirement consists of mobilization; site preparation; drilling,
casing, cementing, and options for completing the holes in one of four
different methods; demobilization; site restoration; providing test
hole samples, reports, and geophysical logs; and a provision to cover
conditions such as lost circulation, angle deviation, standby time,
acts of God, test hole stimulation, geophysical logging, coring, and
casing perforation. Blow-out prevention equipment will be required.
Subcontractors used for logging will be required to submit copies of
their Federal and State licenses. This project is estimated to take 90
days to complete, and the estimated starting date is August 1997.
Proposals are being requested on a firm fixed price basis to include
all mobilization, equipment, supplies and material, and labor and
supervision. Specifications will be provided in the solicitation. A
site visit for prospective offerors is planned, with particulars to be
provided in the solicitation. The solicitation will be released on or
about 7 April 1997 and close 45 days thereafter. Requests for this
