Contracts Office, Contract@nist.gov. The National Institute of
Standards and Technology has a requirement to purchase a high
repetition rate, high average power, tunable, ultrafast laser system
consisting of a high power, cw Ar-ion pump laser, a mode-locked
Ti-sapphire oscillator, a high repetition rate Ti-sapphire regenerative
amplifier, and a near-IR optical parametric amplifier. The signal from
the optical parametric amplifier will tune from 1100 to 1600 nm with
one optics set. The idler must be within 50% of photon balance with the
signal over the wavelength range of 1600-2400 nm. The output from the
optical parametric amplifier must be appropriate as a pump source for
a NIST-built, wide-bandwidth, tunable IR source based on difference
frequency mixing between the signal and idler. The system shall operate
at an adjustable repetition rate from 10 Hz to at least 250 kHz. The
peak signal-pulse-power (signal-pulse-energy/pulse temporal full-width
at half maximum) from the optical parametric amplifier, at 250 kHz,
shall be at least 1.5 MWwhen installed at NIST. Both the signal and
idler shall have at least 150 wavenumbers of bandwidth, good mode
quality (M-squared less than 2.0), and be linearly polarized (at least
100:1). The signal time-bandwidth-product shall be less than 0.88. The
vendor shall provide all components necessary for operation of the
system, and shall install and demonstrate performance at NIST prior to
acceptance. The vendor shall provide for training of NIST personnel in
operation of the system. The system shall be warranted for at least one
year, with at least a 2 year, 3000 hour warrantee on the tube of the
Ar-ion pump laser. FOB Point is Gaithersburg, MD. Contract completion
shall be within three months from date of award. All responsible
sources may submit a proposal shich shall be considered by the agency.
