607-6920 The Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) intends to
solicit, negotiate and award a DOD-wide acquisition resulting in
several IDIQ Task Order/Delivery Order contracts. This announcement is
for purposes of soliciting comments to DISA's draft Statement of Work
(SOW). It is intended that multiple awards and split awards will
result for both purchase and/or lease of computer hardware, as well as
maintenance of computer hardware to be available on a global basis.
Its purpose is to support one of DISA's primary missions: to develop
and/or integrate DODs existing computer systems into a single, seamless
Defense Information Infrastructure (DII) in support of the war fighter
in an Open Systems, or Common Operating Environment (COE). Initial
focus will be on compliant platforms branded against Transmission
Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and must operate to the
following releases: Microsoft Windows NT; IBM AIX 4.1.4; Hewlett
Packard (HP/UX) 9.0.7, 10.1; Sun Solaris 2.4, 2.5.1; Digital DEC Alpha;
Silicon Graphics. This procurement is a pioneer effort incorporating
electronic contracting methods and includes a structure that will
evolve through an interactive, industry and customer-driven process,
both prior to and after award. As such, the acquisition strategy is
intended to include partial small business set-asides as well as
teaming opportunities for Small, Small Women Owned, and other Small
Disadvantaged Businesses, while providing easy-to-use web-based
technologies to get the best value commercial products and services to
those customers who need them in the absolute shortest time frame
possible. In keeping with acquisition streamlining, written documents
are not anticipated and will be furnished on an extreme exception basis
only. As such, all further information relevant to this acquisition,
including the proposed schedule, the RFP, industry comments or
questions, ordering guides, bidders mailing lists, and/or award and
administration processes will be conducted electronically and/or be
available for download at DISAs Defense Information Technology
Contracting Organization -- National Capital Region (DITCO-NCR) DIIEM
website: http://www.disa.mil/line/DIIEM.html. To accommodate the
aggressive award schedule we plan to set up a location under our
website as an interactive Bidders Mailing List to facilitate Small and
SDB teaming and contracting opportunities. Anticipated release of the
Statement of Work under RFP DCA100-97-R-0031 for industry comments
will be on or about 7 March 1997 with final RFP projected in the 3rd
Qtr FY97 and projected awards in the 4th Qtr FY97. At that time a
separate CBD announcement will be published. No written document will
be mailed as a result of this notice and no telephone requests will be
accepted. Inquiries may be made via fax to the Contracting Officer,
