A -- FORKLIFTS -- ENHANCED DURABILITY SOL N47408-97-R-1827 DUE 043097 POC Contract Specialist, FUSAKO WINCHESTER, 805-982-3935 The United States Marine Corps (USMC) is interested in obtaining technical information and costs (including lease costs and schedules) from any industrial source for Forklifts-Enhanced Durability (FED) which can enter standard ISO 8x8x20 ft ISO containers and Forklifts-Adjustable Reach (FAR) which can unstuff 8x8x20 ft ISO containers. The enhanced durability and adjustable reach forklifts shall incorporate the latest diagnostic technology. The FED shall have a capacity of 4,000 pound at a load center of 24 inches with a 6,000 pound capacity at a 24 inch load center desired. An articulated FED forklift capable of operating on unprepared surfaces and rough terrain is desired. The FED forklift will be used to unstuff ammunition containers and for loading pallets onto trailer chassis. The FAR forklift shall have a capacity of 4,000 pounds at a reach of 20 ft from heel of retracted forks, 6,000 pounds at 10 ft from heel of retracted forks and 10,000 pounds at a load center of 4 ft with forks retracted. Forklift technology related to self diagnostics, controls, ease of maintenance and age deterioration prevention are key issues of interest. These technologies may apply to other USMC equipment including dozers, cranes, loaders, and excavators. Interested potential sources are requested to send a letter of interest and capability, along with brochures and other descriptive literature to the NAVFAC Contracts Office by 30 April, 1997. This is not a request for proposal, and no contract will be awarded on the basis of the responses hereto, or any follow up information subsequently solicited. The Navy will not reimburse costs incurred by prospective sources while acting to satisfy this request.
