furnishing manpower, materials, equipment, and supervision necessary to
performed the Design/Build Expansion at the Processing and Distribution
Center, 3200 Summit Blvd., West Palm Beach, Florida 33406-9998 in
accordance with plans and specifications. A fixed price contract for
the Design/Build of the expansion of the existing Processing and
Distribution Center (General Mail Facility) of approximately 52,943
gross sq. ft. on existing property. The building expansion is to be a
one story (20' clear height to bottom of structure, building height may
have to be transitioned at matchpoint), economical, typical general
mail facility post office building. Representative construction type to
be: steel framed building with pre-cast concrete panel construction
over concrete block to match existing, or other type as proposed by
offerors to match the existing facade. Project is to include dock
expansion, CCTV and universal wiring requirements. No fixed
mechanization is required. Scope of work includes, but is not limited
to, all trades typical to the complete construction of a project such
as site work, off site work, landscape, foundation, concrete, steel,
roofing, waterproofing, interior finishes, millwork, signage, doors and
windows, storefronts, glazing, hardware, plumbing, electrical,
mechanical, as described in the solicitation for proposals. There is
some demolition work such as removal of asphalt paving under the
proposed expansion, concrete and other pavement demolition/revisions as
shown on site plan. Phasing and enclosure partitions as required to
maintain operations and safety of employees. Offerors will be required
to submit both technical and price proposals. Technical submittals
will require evidence of: (1) Experience; (2) Management Plan; (3)
Financial Capability; and (4) Organization. Time of completion is 270
calendar days after notice to proceed, to include both design and
construction. This scope of work is further defined in the drawings and
specifications. Construction cost is estimated to be between $3,400,000
to $3,800,000. Return date for the above project is April 17, 1997. To
view the site, contractors/suppliers are invited to call Mr. Harold
Kuder, Industrial Engineer, 407/697-2008 or Mr. Steven Kulig,
Industrial Engineer at 407/697-2072. A twenty-four notice is required
to view the site. However, a formal pre-proposal Conference, walk
through is required and scheduled for March 21, 1997, at 10:00 A.M. at
the Processing and Distribution Center, 3200 Summit Blvd West Palm
Beach, Florida 33406-9998. If you desire plans and specifications for
this project, please send your request, along with your fee remittance
amount of $150 per set, made payable to USPS Disbursing Officer,
addressed as follows: United States Postal Service, Major Facilities

Boulevard, Memphis, TN 38166-0300. FAX: 901/747-7408. To expedite, FAX
a copy of check or money order before mailing. If FAX is received
before 1 p.m. on a given day, the plans and specs will be mailed that
day via two-day priority mail. If you wish them overnighted, send
additional $40 for each set. Plans will also be available for your
inspection at the following locations: (1). Harold Kuder or Steven
Kulin, Processing & Distribution Center, West Palm Beach, FL
33406-9998; (2) Local Plan Rooms; and (3) F.W. Dodge, Inc. This is a
negotiated procurement; therefore, offers will not be publicly opened.
