Susan Prestwich, 502 S. Woodruff Ave., Idaho Falls, ID 83401, fax
(208) 528-2401, or e-mail tdi@wpi.org. Synopsis: ANNOUNCEMENT OF NEW
DOE INITIATIVE. The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Office of Science
and Technology (OST) is sponsoring new Technology Deployment
Initiative (TDI) to assist DOE sites in deploying cleanup technologies.
This initiative is managed by the Idaho Operations Office (DOE-ID). On
March 7, 1997, DOE ID issued call for proposals from DOE Operations
Offices to implement technologies or processes for environmental
cleanup. Parties that own or are aware of new or existing cleanup
technologies or processes that can address environmental problems at
DOE sites are encouraged to contact specific "problem holder" site with
the intent to support DOE proposals to the TDI. Technologies to be
considered by the TDI must be ready for field implementation, capable
of accelerating site cleanup, lead to significant overall cost
reduction, deployable for multiple application/sites, and include cost
and performance data. DOE TDI is not seeking information on bench,
laboratory or pilot scale systems. All questions and comments regarding
the TDI should be mailed, phoned, faxed, or e-mailed to Susan
Prestwich, DOE-ID, at the above contacts. All questions submitted prior
to March 19, 1997 will be considered for discussion at the planned TDI
Workshop. The TDI Workshop will be held at the Gaithersburg Hilton on
620 Perry Parkway, in Gaithersburg, MD from 8:00 AM to approximately
3:00 PM on March 27, 1997 for all interested parties. Proposed agenda
will include but not be limited to: TDI mission and objectives,
implementation schedule, and responses to questions submitted as of
March 19, 1997. TDI information can be found on the TDI home page
(http://wastenot.inel.gov/tdi/). There is a link from the TDI home page
to the TECHKNOW database. Technology information can be added to the
TECHKNOW databaseas a way for DOE Operations Offices and other parties
to contact and participate in the development of proposals.
Respondents are encouraged to post information directly on the TECHKNOW
database by uploading via the Internet at
