COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MARCH 12,1997 PSA#1800N/A This is not a solicitation. This is a Request for Information (RFI)
regarding potential sources for a F-5 Emergency Jettison Battery. The
F-5 Emergency Jettison Battery, P/N: 6-62902-1, NSN 6135-00-009-4100 is
a critical part of the external stores jettison system on the
F-5A/B/E/F aircraft. The battery is a one-shot thermal battery that
provides 28 VDC power to the manual jettison system and is activated by
pulling the external stores jettison T-handle. The battery can fire up
to ten squibs. The Air Force has been advised that it is not
economically feasible for the current source to manufacture the
battery. The new battery must be a form, fit, function replacement. Due
to urgent requirements, intersted sources who require performance
criteria for this battery and whose written request is received on or
before 17 March 1997 will be furnished a copy of Northrop specification
control drawing 6-62902 (a performance-type spec). Requests should be
directed to Fax #210-925-8216, Attn: Sue Samsel/SA-ALC/LFKA. Contact
Sue Samsel at telephone #210-925-6861 if further information is
required. Interested sources are then requested to submit in writing to
be received no later than 31 March 97, the following information: 1. An
indication of interest in developing and producing the battery. 2. A
written assessment of: a. Technical capability to produce the battery
b. Experience with designing/producing this type of thermal battery for
an airborne fighter or similar application c. Ability to successfully
complete required environmental and electromagnetic interference
preproduction testing (Section 4, Table I of the Northrop
specification) within eight months after award of contract. The address
for submission of the requested information is: SA-ALC/LFKA Attention:
