Officer) The Navy requires 12,000 each Fiberglass Epoxy Tubes
manufactured in accordance with NAVAIR drawing 3268AS107. Predominant
material of manufacture is filament wound glass fiber/epoxy composite,
0.00050/0.00055 diameter "E" glass fiber (roving with 675 yds/lb
yield). Epoxy resin in accordance with MIL-R-9300, type I, color black.
Treated with compatible fire retardant additive to meet underwriters
laboratory test UL 94V-0. Specification requirements apply after
additive. The glass fibers shall be saturated with the epoxy resin and
applied helically to a rotating mandrel at a 65 degree +/- 2 degree
angle to the tube axis. The ID of the tube shall be as determined by
the mandrel with no further machining required. The OD may be achieved
with secondary machining operation. The apparent ring tensile strength
of the tube shall be 2000 pounds minimum when tested in accordance with
ASTM D2290, Procurement A, with the following exceptions: 1. Test
specimen shall be a ring cut from a finished tube to a length of0.500
+/- .005 inches; 2. The test fixture and specimen will be as configured
in figure 5 of the specifications with a split disk diameter of 1.425
+/-.005 and a thickness of 0.500 +/-.010. Finished components shall be
free from frayed fibers. Delivery is required FOB Crane, IN to begin
within 45 days after order. This acquisition will be processed
utilizing simplified acquisition procedures, and it is anticipated that
a written Request for Quotations will be issued on or about 26 March 97
with a closing date on or about 14 April 97. This requirement is a 100%
small business set aside, and only quotations from small business
concern manufacturers or small business distributors offering products
of small business manufacturers will be considered. Requests may be
