The 3' stop stick weighs 1 1/3 pounds and is comprised of the following components and sub-assemblies: Thirty-six Teflon coated hardened steel QUILLS, 1 7/8 inches in length, assembled in three (3) rows of twelve (12). Seventy-two (72) Teflon coated steel SPIKE TIPS, 3/8 inches in length, inserted into each end of the QUILLS. The TIP and Quill assemblies are 2 5/8 inches tip to tip. A collapsible polymer CORE, to orient the QUILL/SPIKE TIP ASSEMBLIES. Polymer CORE is encased in a TARTAN tape, glass filament FRAME to contain the QUILL/SPIKE TIP ASSEMBLIES during impact. A polypropylene HOUSING, to contain the inner subassemblies and to protect the officer from injury while handling the STOP STICK. Protective gear is not necessary to handle STOP STICKS. Molded polymer male and female END CAPS, which allows multiples of this product to be linked together for deployment. Trunk lid mounted TRAY with 3 connectable, omni-directional sticks. One CORD REEL with 80+ of 120 pound test braiden nylon cord. Reusable SLEEVE, 9 ft. 10 in., of double strength black rip-stop nylon material with a D ring and VELCRO closing strap for removal from the highway, and sealed system, to minimize water penetration. Award will be made to Stop Stick pursuant to 41 USC 253(c)(1), only one responsible source.
