A -- HIGH EFFICIENCY FOSSIL POWER PLANTS (HEFPP) CONCEPTUALIZATION PROGRAM SOL DE-RA21-97MC34164 DUE 051297 POC Contract Specialist, Kelly A. McDonald, 304/285-4113/ Contracting Officer, D. Denise Riggi The U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE's) Federal Energy Technology Center announces the availability of Program Research and Development Announcement (PRDA) No. DE-RA21-97MC34164 entitled "High Efficiency Fossil Power Plants (HEFPP) Conceptualization Program," on or about 3/20/97. The goal of the project is to identify concepts which will produce affordable, safe, environmentally friendly electrical power at greater than 70 percent efficiency (lower heating value) from fossil fuels. It is anticipated that proposed power plant configurations will be less than 20 MW in size. The end use application for the system is distributed power. The system will contain any combination of existing or "near-term" power industry fuel to electricity conversion equipment. ("Near-term" means that the equipment must be sufficiently developed in time for commercialization of the HEFPP system in the year 2010 or sooner.) One of the components must be a fuel cell which is fueled with natural gas. The offeror must cost-share at least 20 percent of the proposed project costs. The solicitation will be made available on the World Wide Web (WWW) at "www.metc.doe.gov/business/solicita.html". Those who obtain a copy of the solicitation through the WWW should check the location frequently for any amendments to the solicitation. The solicitation is also available on diskette in WordPerfect format. Only written requests for a diskette copy of the solicitation will be honored. Written requests for the PRDA should reference the PRDA title and number and should specify a point of contact at the requestor's location. Requests may be submitted by mail at the above address, by fax at (304)285-4683, or at KMCDON@FETC.DOE.GOV via Internet. A forty-five (45) day response time is planned. Telephone requests for the solicitation package will not be accepted. (0069)
