The Defense Special Weapons Agency (DSWA) is seeking to provide equipment and services for volume reduction of low level radioactive waste (LLRW) generated by the dismantlement of Russian strategic ballistic missile submarines. The incumbent will design, produce, deliver, and install systems to support this objective at two strategic submarine dismantlement facilities in Russia. The systems provided by the incumbent will consist of subsystems for volume reduction liquid LLRW, contaminated laundry water, and solid LLRW, as well as for LLRW stabilization and characterization, radionuclide and chemical effluent monitoring, and LLRW transportation within processing areas. The LLRW system shall be capable of reducing 1,500 cubic meters per year of liquid LLRW, 200 cubic meters per year of solid LLRW, and 2,500 cubic meters per year of radiologically contaminated laundry water. DSWA is seeking established technological approaches and does not intend to entertain extensive R&D efforts unless it can be proven that the requirements can be accomplished within the contemplated 12-month delivery period.
