A -- GROWING QUANTUM WELL SEMICONDUCTOR STRUCTURES VIA MOLECULAR BEAM EXPITAXY (MBE). Research and Development sources sought. The Air Force Phillips Laboratory seeks a source with experience in the techniques of growing quantum well semiconductor structures via MBE (Molecular Beam Epitaxy). We will require the use of an MBE machine for the growth of a maximum of four quantum well semiconductor structures per month over a six month period. The material system will be GaAs/A1GaAs unless changed by mutual consent between the government and the grower. The design parameters for these structures will be subject to change right up to the start of the growth process, but any last minute changes will be discussed with the grower. The maximum number of structures per month is not a cumulative quantity, in order that the growth facility not be overloaded. If we require only three in one month, five structures in a following month will not be requested. The number of structures to be requested will be determined on a month-to-month basis by the researchers at PL/VTMR. Technical input from the grower concerning layer thicknesses, etch stops, etc. will be desirable. Do not request a copy of the solicitation as one does not exist at this time. Firms responding must submit a statement of capability which shall demonstrate the offeror's experience/expertise to perform subject services.
