COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MARCH 13,1997 PSA#1801Los Alamos National Laboratory, Mail Stop C334, P.O. Box 1663, Los

Partnership Development and Agreements, MS C331, TEL: (505) 665-5377,
FAX: (505) 667-0603, E-Mail: mami@lanl.gov. The University of
California, which operates Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) under
contract to the Department of Energy (DOE), is seeking industrial
partners to participate in the commercialization of data embedding
technologies. Data Embedding technologies are a new, unique means to
add information invisibly to many forms of digital imagery, or any
other digital data. Data embedding is a spin-off of a Los Alamos
research project to analyze image data from high-speed television
systems, film systems, and long-exposure systems. Data Embedding is
implemented in a demonstration software package written in the
programming language CO AC T='1'>. It operates on PC-compatible computers run by MS DOS and
requires 512 kilobytes of memory. This technology has many potential
applications including protecting intellectual property, embedding
medical history in electronic records, watermaking illegally copied
files of digital images, concealing personal information in digital
fingerprint images, watermarking audio CDs or Digital Video Disks,
embedding data into military maps sent in digital from through open
communication lines. Industrial partners are being sought to enter into
a technology transfer agreement to commercialize this suite of
technologies. Partnership may include, but is not limited to license
agreements and Cooperative Research and Development Agreements
(CRADAs). Prospective partners must demonstrate previous experience in
software project development. Interested parties must also demonstrate
product marketing capability and sound financial backing for this
partnership. Any company that is interested in pursuing this
opportunity or that wishes to receive more information concerning this
program should respond with a brief statement describing the company's
technical expertise, marketing capability, financial resources,
estimates of the relevant market for a specific application, previous
technology transfer experience, and motivation for participation in the
program. The statement of interests must be dated within 30 days from
the date of this notice. (0070) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0018 19970313\A-0018.SOL)
