in Europe is conducting a Market Research for interested qualified
parties in performing work on a firm fixed price maintenance contract
commencing 01 October 1998 and succeeding with yearly option intervals,
ending 30 September 2003. The contractual requirements will encompass
tasks required for equipment (hardware and software) installation and
removal, equipment maintenance, network management, and training on the
Bosnia Command and Control Augmentation (BC2A). The BC2A is a joint
Defense Information System Agency and Advanced Projects Agency
initiative fielded under the United States Air Force European Command's
(USEUCOM) authority with the United States Air Force Europe (USAFE) as
the lead service component. The BC2A will eventually transition to a
permanent Command and Control (C2) system. Information Servers shall be
located throughout Europe, with the bulk of the equipment located in
the Balkans. Personnel working on the BC2A equipment must have at a
minimum a US Secret clearance and documented experience with certified
training on some or all the following parts of the BC2A system:
operating and maintaining a NOVELL based network; SUN Sparc
workstations; related storage arrays, routers, hubs, and ATM switches
to include SYSBASE routers and hubs; and mobile ground satellite
terminals. Eight (8) sites Europe (Hungary, Italy, Bosnia, England, and
Germany) require on-site maintenance personnel with the nineteen (19)
remaining land and ship-based sites serviced on an on-call basis from
the manned sites. A ninety-eight percent (98%) "up time" is required of
the network with all outages solved in twenty-four (24) hours. The
winning contractor is also expected to provide their own transportation
to all sites (where commercially available), have their own technical
manuals, diagnostic and testing equipment, and train military personnel
as the need arises. If you are interested in participating in this
