R -- OBTAIN SPECIALIZED COMPUTER PROGRAMMING ASSISTANCE SOL NHLBI-PS-SP-97-394 DUE 032797 POC Deborah Coulter, Purchasing Agent, (301) 435-0368 Fax number (301) 480-3345 The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Vinayakumar Prabhu, 517 Morning Calm LA, Harpers Ferry, WV, 25425, to provide computer programming assistance. Services will involve planning and completion of the submillimeter scale simulations of cat, monkey, and human brain tissues (using the finite package ANSYS) (2) collaboration with experimentalist in NINDS and theoreticians in BEIP to determine the best procedures for studying convective or bulk tr ansport mechanism in brain tissue, and (3) assistance in writing papers for publication in peer reviewed journals that will describe these transport simulations. The project requires extensive applied math and programming skills; in particular it involves the application of the ANSYS finite element package for solving partial differential equations describing molecular and charge transport. It also requires the use of imaging analysis software on Helix, and SGI workstation for visualizing the MRI data and t he simulation results. This requirement is to continue an on going research furnished by Vinyakumar Prabhu. The industrial classification (SIC) Code 7379, Size Standard $12.5M will be used for this requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this requirement. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the disc retion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct future competitive procurement.
