The Naval Air Warfare Center, Training Systems Division, in Orlando, Florida is seeking a contractor who has designed and produced nautical visual training systems and integrated training systems with tactical equipment through a complex Navy Tactical Data System (NTDS) or ethernet type interface. The contractor must be capable of producing a complete training system including an instructor console, instructor control software, and interface software to exchange information with other training systems. The visual portion of the training system must be a commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) visual system that is capable of producing both visual and Infrared (IR) real-time, three dimensional, computer graphics. The visual system must be capable of high resolution real-time, animated, three dimensional graphics with no stepping or jitter in the scene. The visual system must allow complete operator control over the graphics scene and allow the operator to change scene features (e.g. ships, planes, vehicles, etc.) randomly without stopping the animation or resetting the system. The visual system must be able to simultaneously display a real-time visual scene and a real-time infrared scene at the same time on separate monitors. The visual system must be capable of displaying an ocean scene with various ships, landmass, buoys, etc., as well as weather and environmental effects. The visual system must be capable of showing an IR scene taking into account various environmental effects such as air temperature, water temperature, time of day, precipitation, etc. The visual system must be capable of interfacing with other computers or training systems through a complex, ethernet type interface. This visual training system will be utilized for training on-board a ship therefore there is a critical size constraint. The visual system must be capable of the above effort but be physically contained within the following dimensions: height = 28 inches, width = 18 inches, length = 28 inches. Interested contractors should respond with the following information: a. Provide a history of the company and its experience/involvement with visual training systems and visual graphics. List the visual training systems produced and the capabilities of those trainers. Specify the visual systems that were used in these training systems. State the nature of the work performed (i.e. manufactured the visual system or developed software for the visual system). Identify visual graphics and databases developed and the associated visual system platform. Describe previous work efforts which required integrating visual training systems with other trainers or tactical systems. Specifically indicate any experience with the Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA) interface standard. b. Identify visual systems that will meet the performance and size requirements as listed in paragraphs 1, 2, and 3. Describe programs demonstrating experience utilizing these systems. Provide a complete description of the visual system's capabilities and any associated software packages necessary to produce the desired capabilities. Qualified sources should submit their responses no later than COB 31 March 1997 to NAWCTSD Code 27212, Glen O'Grady.
