COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MARCH 17,1997 PSA#1803Defense Special Weapons Agency, 6801 Telegraph Rd., Alexandria, VA
22310-3398 A -- VULNERABILITY OF NUCLEAR FACILITIES SOL DSWA01-97-R-0025 DUE
040397 POC Carol Dickerson, Negotiator, (703) 325-1193, Scott Morton,
Contracting Officer, (703) 325-1200. The objective of this effort is to
apply advanced numerical codes to determine the vulnerability of
nuclear facilities to attacks by conventional weapons, and will address
attack by friendly forces against an adversary's facility where the
goal is to minimize radioactive hazard. This effort will also examine
the attack of hostile forces against a friendly facility where
radioactive hazard must be addressed. Method used will be "first
principle" codes such as finite element or finite difference to assess
the vulnerabilities of nuclear facilities to attacks by conventional
weapons. The facilities will include nuclear power plants, plutonium
reprocessing facilities, and related facilities, their structures, and
critical components. Period of performance is estimated to be
thirty-six (36) months plus a final report preparation and review
cycle. All contractor personnel will require DoD security clearance of
SECRET-RD CNWDI, CI. For information, contact Carol Dickerson at (703)
325-1193. Information on DSWAsolicitations, already released, can be
obtained by calling the DSWA Hotline at (703) 325-1173. As of 31 May
