This acquisition is for the design, fabrication, and testing of a reserve energizer (battery) for the MK404 MOD 3 Superior Infrared Proximity Fuze which may be applicable to the EX 419 Multi-Function Fuze. Design efforts under this requirement will consist of increasing the voltage of the Alliant Techsystems' lithium-thionyl chloride reserve energizer type battery to include an additional cell without changing the battery case. The acquisition will be performed in two phases with options for data and battery cutaways. Phase 1 will consist of efforts to design, test, and fabricate sufficient quantities to ensure that battery performance requirements are fulfilled. Phase 2 will encompass further design efforts (if applicable) and the fabrication and delivery of approximately 200 batteries. This requirement will be fulfilled through other than full and open competition with Alliant Techsystems, 104 Rock Road, Horsham, PA 19044 based on their successful performance of Army contract DAAA21-92-C-0075.
