Energy Technology Center (FETC) announces the availability of Program
Research and Development Announcement (PRDA) No. DE-RA21-97MC34175
entitled "High Temperature MWD/LWD Development." A pre-solicitation
notice was previously advertised in the Commerce Business Daily (CBD)
on February 20, 1997. As detailed previously, the objective of the
procurement is to develop a new or improve an existing MWD/LWD system
to increase capabilities in high temperature drilling environments.
This work is in support of present day deeper exploration drilling
needs such as those being encountered in the Austin Chalk drilling in
Texas and Louisiana. Proposals are being requested in one or more of
the following three development areas: (1) MWD higher temperature limit
focus (increase operating limits to 195 degree centigrades or
higher)(2)MWD improved component availability focus (3) LWD higher
temperature limit focus (175 degrees centigrades minimum). The
solicitation will be available on the World Wide Web (WWW) at:
{http://www.metc.doe.gov/business/solicita.html}. An information
package describing the proposed solicitation is currently available at
the same WWW address. The actual solicitation should be available on
or about March 28, 1997. Those who obtain a copy of the solicitation
through the WWW should check the location frequently for any
amendments. The solicitation is also available on diskette in
WordPerfect format. Only written requests for a diskette copy of the
solicitation will be honored. Written requests should reference the
PRDA title and number, and should specify a point of contact at the
requestor's location. Requests may be submitted by mail at the above
address, by fax at (304)285-4683, or via E-mail at mgabri@fetc.doe.gov.
A forty-five (45) day response time is planned. Telephone requests for
