J -- OVERHAULING OF AIRCRAFT REFUELING TRUCKS POC Thomas I. Robertson, (97A03), Source Development Analyst, 912-926-6726 This is NOT a presolicitation notice pursuant to FAR Part 5, but is MARKET RESEARCH to identify sources who possess capability and experience in depot level overhauling of aircraft refueling trucks. The direct flight mission support vehicles receive, stores, transports and dispenses fuel to the aircraft and in some instances recovers aircraft fuel. The Air Force currently has approximately 1916 vehicles in the fleet comprised of the following models: Condec R-9 ( Mfg. 1981), Kovatch R-9 ( Mfg. 1982-1984), Oshkosh R-11 (Mfg. 1987-1992), Kovatch R-11 (Mfg. 1996 -- -). The requirement, if generated may cover a 5-year period and require the overhaul of approximately 474 refuelers. The overhaul effort will include, but is not limited to the following: Disassembly of the vehicle and all mounted equipment; Inspection testing of all components; Replacement/repair of all defective components; Reassembly; Final inspection testing to ensure the vehicle is rehabilitated to established reliability standards. This is not an indication that the Air Force intends to contract for these services. The Air Force will not pay for information received in response to this request for information. A formal solicitation does not exist at this time. This survey is to determine the availability of firms pursuant to Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 10.002(b)(iii) and does not constitute an Invitation for Bid or Request for Proposal and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government. Respondents to this notice will be sent a DRAFT Work Specification, Appendix A, which further detail the requirement, and a Contractor Capability Survey which requests capability information. The extent of foreign participation has not yet been determined therefore the release of information to foreign sources will be determined at time of request.
