E-MAIL: Karon F. Cox, kcox@ja1.jsc.nasa.gov. NASA/JSC plans to issue a Request for Offers for Installation of Automatic Sprinkler System at Building 30 at the Johnson Space Center (JSC). This procurement is part of the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program and is being conducted using the NASA Midrange procedures. This procurement is open to both large and small business and ranges between $500,000 and $1,000,000. The Standard Industrial Classification Code for the procurement is 1711. The project consists of providing pipe sprinkler coverage to areas of the building not currently sprinkled. The core of each of the three floors in the building is generally sprinkled except the mechanical and electrical rooms, toilets, and janitor's closets. A new 150 millimeter service will be extended into the building. A looped system will be provided for each floor. Asbestos exists in the sprayed on fireproofing. The asbestos shall be abated at pipe hanger locations according to NASA criteria. All work shall be done after hours and on weekends. The construction contractor will be given 140 calendar days to complete the project. All responsible bidders may submit a bid which shall be considered by the agency. The anticipated release date of the RFO is on or about March 13, 1997. The firm date for receipt of offers will be stated in the RFO.
