59 -- REQUEST FOR INFORMATION ON AIRBORNE EO/IR SENSOR PACKAGE POC Contact, Michael McLoughlin, Phone (703)604-0903 As part of a market survey, the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) is interested in obtaining information on Electro-optical/Infrared (EO/IR) sensor systems which are suitable for application in Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV). The purpose is to provide day or night image intelligence. The desired sensor system should be in production and require only limited modifications for adaptation and integration. The dual imaging sensors should be co-aligned, mounted on a stabilized gimballed platform providing 360 degree continuous motion in azimuth and more than +20 to-100 degrees in elevation. Capabilities of interest are area search, cued location pointing, target detection, and target tracking (including auto-track) of moving targets is desired. System output is used for target recognition, evaluation and accurate determination of absolute target location. The complete system, including all electronics needed for payload operation and communication, should weigh no more than 60 pounds. The government is particularly interested in a sensor system with the following basic characteristics: Operating Altitude: 0 to 15,000 ft required- Temperature range: -21 to +49 deg. C required -- Power requirements: operate on 28V DC -- Average power draw: less than 150 watts -- Communications: RS-422 serial communication, system will be operated remotely from a ground terminal for both control and data receipt -- Zoom capability to provide NIIRS 4.5 or better resolution over range of altitudes and stand-off distances -- Installed package weight, dimensions and footprint, including required accessories -- Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF): TBD hours, durability is important. In addition to the above information, we desire development status, (design verification testing, design/configuration stability, production status, status of drawings/blueprints, etc.) and an estimate of production cost. Production cost is an important criteria. Data derived from this RFI will be used to develop a list of potential vendorsfor procurement of 32+ sensor packages for a flight demonstration program. Interested parties should submit a written statement of interest, including a description of the item considered to meet the criteria herein, with the above requested supporting data, within 21 days of publication of this announcement to : Commander, Naval Air Systems Command, Attn: 2.4.2.5, 1421 Jefferson Davis Hwy, Arlington, VA 22243-5120. See note No. 22 -- NAVAIR Synopsis No. 40042-97. (0076)
