COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MARCH 19,1997 PSA#180570-FEDL. IMPLEMENTATION GUIDELINES REVISION TO PART 10 "FEDERAL
CONVENTIONS FOR USING ASC X12 TRANSACTION SETS" The proposed revision
to Part 10 has been prepared by the Joint Federal/DOD Communications,
Control and Security Functional Working Group to address the enveloping
and control structures, including addressing and acknowledgement
models, and to provide the structures to support encryption and digital
signatures at both the functional group and transaction set level when
requirements for these types of security features are identified by
the functional user communities. This Part 10 of the Federal
Implementation Guidelines is meant to be an overarching architecture of
the control structure which the government is implementing in the
Electronic Commerce Infrastructure (ECI). However, not all the parts of
the architecture will be implemented immediately. The specifics of
which parts are actually implemented will be defined in agreements
between the ECI and other components in the trading network and
architecture, such as Value Added Networks (VANs) and government users
of the ECI. This document is available in electronic format from the
