(FHWA) plans to negotiate a Purchase Order with the Association of
Drilled Shafts Contractors (ADSC) to develop a research study on
"Resistance Factors for Drilled Shafts with Minor Defects." The
research study plan will be used to develop drilled shaft design
techniques to account for any potential safety problems resulting from
sub-detectable minor defects of drilled shaft construction. ADSC will
contribute an equivalent matching amount of funds and in-kind services
including equipment, materials and labor to build and test the
experimental shafts. This is a Simplified Acquisition. Anticipated
