COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MARCH 21,1997 PSA#1807U.S. Dept. of Commerce, NOAA, WASC, Acquisition Management Division
WC3, 7600 Sand Point Way NE, Bin C15700, Seattle, WA 98115-0070 P -- SOURCE SOUGHT TO PROVIDE URGENT DIVE/RECOVERY EFFORT IN DUTCH
HARBOR, AK SOL WASC7-1087 DUE 033197 POC Randall Brown, (voice) (206)
526-6042, FAX (206) 527-.55848 The NOAA Pacific Marine Environmental
Laboratory (PMEL) requires a crewed dive/recovery vessel to attempt to
recover two PMEL/FOCI instrument packages (acoustic releases).
Acoustic releases deployed in the Bering Sea are not responding to
acoustic signals and now must be recovered manually. Current locations
of the acoustic releases in the Bering Sea are at 1) 56 deg. 52.33' N,
164 deg. 02.95' W in 74.5 meters of water, and 2) 56 deg. 52.25' N, 164
deg. 03.47' W in 72.6 meters of water. Proposed vessel must have
underwater welding and burning equipment; underwater video equipment;
an OSHA-approved decompression chamber; and an 8-ton hydraulic deck
crane. Vessel must have at least three divers and must be able to begin
recovery effort by 4/15/97. Period of performance will begin 4/15/97,
not to exceed four calendar days total. However, diving effort will be
subject to local weatherconditions, and vessel will be required to be
available through 9/30/97. It's expected that only local recovery
vessels willbe able to perform this contract due to need for rapid
deployment and required period of availability. This is a simplified
acquisition with an estimated value of less than $100,000. (0078) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0077 19970321\P-0003.SOL)
