COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MARCH 24,1997 PSA#1808Drug Enforcement Administration, Office of Acquisition Management, 700
Army Navy Drive, Arlington, Virginia 22202 70 -- DEA AUTOMATED BOOKING STATION SOL DEA-97-R-0002 POC Jeffrey
Saylor, Contract Specialist, (202) 307-4366 The U.S. Department of
Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has a requirement to
reproduce and administer an automated booking station prototyped by the
DEA. The successful offeror will be required to acquire the hardware
and software components for the system, install, enhance, and maintain
the Government owned software for the DEA s headquarters twenty field
Divisions. The Contractor will provide initial training of the system
and provide (online and telephone) support. The automated booking
station captures text, fingerprinting, and imaging to process
prisoners. The ABS is designed to enhance this purpose by reducing the
time required to document the information collected as well as improve
its quality. DEA's internal requirements for processing prisoners
include the completion of DEA-Form 202 (Personal History Report),
collection of the information required on a FD-249 (ten print
fingerprint card), a front and side profile image, and evidence image
recording. The ABS will create a paper copy of this information. The
system allows for a central database and repository for booking data
which can be used to compare prisoners to previously recorded suspects.
The Government anticipates releasing a draft RFP (or request for
comment) prior to releasing the solicitation. Parties interested in
this requirement should submit a request in writing by facsimile (202)
307-7818 within fifteen calendar days from the date of this notice.
Requests must reference Solicitation Number DEA-97-R-0002 and be
addressed to the point-of-contact: Jeff Saylor. The SIC 3571 applies.
