Repair/replace pump shaft bearings at theGoodfellow fire training burn
pits, remove/repair check valves. Comply with Corp of Engineers Health
and Safety Manual (Oct 92), Federal, State, OSHA safety requirements.
Guardrails, fences, barricades and warning lights/illumination shall be
maintained from sunset to sunup and shall be placed at all excavations
which are adjacent to paths, walkways, sidewalks, driveways, and other
pedestrian or vehicle thoroughfares. Comply with AFOSHA Std 91-25 (21
Nov 94) confined spaces. Contractor responsible for obtaining permits.
All wet wells and valve boxes are considered confined spaces. AF does
not provide industrial hygienist or equipment to contractor for
confined space entry. Contractor to obtain CE construction permit prior
to beginning work. Responsible for repair/replacement of any damage
caused at own expense. Utilities are government furnished, contractor
must provide cables and connections. Comply with latest edition
national electric code, uniformmechanical code, other industry
standards. Contractor responsible for field verifying all existing
conditions prior to bidding. Site visit at 1000 on 31 Mar 97, call Cris
Lambert 915/654-3809. All pumping systems shall be fully operational at
the end of this contract and contractor shall demonstrate operation of
each pumping system. Work includes but is not limited to the
following: A. Lift stations 3 and 4 replace with new, all intermediate
bearings, lower bearings, upper bearings, and shafts on pumps.
Bearings shall be self-lubricating. Four pumps total. Upon
reinstallation of pumps in wet well, verify vertical pump alignment.
All existing bearings and shafts shall be property of the Government.
Only one lift station may be shut down at a time. Work must be
completed on one lift station and valve box prior to working on the
next one. All lift stations are permit required confined spaces. Lift
stations 1-4 have diameters of 10 feet, depth of 25 feet. Hazards
contained in these spaces are residual JP8 and 25 feet deep pit without
ladders for access or exit. B. Lift stations 1 and 2: remove pumps from
lift stations and verify that shafts are straight. Upon reinstallation
of the pumps, verify vertical alignment. C. Valve box at storage
(500,000 gallon)tank: remove spring valves and replace with weighted
arm check valves on all four lines. There are three 4 inch valves and
one 6 inch valve in box. Provide flanged ends, iron body, bronze
mounted, with rubber disc seat, lever arm and weight, 125 PSI flanges
similar to Mueller a-206-6-01, PACO part number 520174xx or equal.
Nonpermit confined space, 4 ft x 8 ft rectangular pit with a depth of
4 ft. Lift stations 3 and 4: drain and clean wet well to ensure that no
debris in bottom of well. Existing lift station pumps: station 1 and 2:
pump PACO model 495-11 (4 pumps), stations 3 and 4: PACO mdl 495-13 (4
pumps). Performance period: 45 days. U.S. Department of Labor Wage
Determination No. 94-2517 dated Sep 30, 1996 applies. This is a
combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in
accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with
additional information included in this notice. This announcement
constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a
