This is a notice of intent to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP)5-09913-607 on a noncompetitive basis in accordance with 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) "Only One Responsible Source" to Scientific Atlanta, Inc. (SA), 3845 Pleasantdale Road, Atlanta, GA 30340; 2 each assorted antenna spare parts, including: x-band downconverter, multiplier, control unit, status display unit, exciter redundancy switch, and other related parts. Quantities of 4 each of some items may be purchased.Delivery to Wallops Island, VA is required within 180 days of contract award. Spares will be used to permit rapid replacement of worn parts on government-owned antennas in Virginia, Alaska and remote sites. To assure ease of qualified replacement, spares must be mechanically and electrically indentical with the original parts. Indentification of actual spares could not be made until after award and partial fabrication of the antennas. SA is the manufacturer of the antennas and, as such, is the only known firm possessing the unique design drawings, documentation and software to assure that similarity and compatability. This information is proprietary to SA and is not available for use in a competitive procurement. It is anticipated that the RFP resulting in a contract with SA will be issued to them on or about April 7, 1997. Any firms desiring consideration are requested to fully identify their capability within 15 days of publication of this synopsis to GSFC/Wallops Flight Facility and the individuals listed as points of contact.
