Welch,Contracting Officer, 202-366-4971 The TASC Computer Center (TCC) hereby amends solicitation number DTTS59-97-B-00201, (CDB announcement number SN037747) as follows: This announcement remains a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items in accordance with FAR Subpart 12.6. The TCC seeks a new S/390-compatible mainframe computer system capable of meeting the following minimum performance criteria: 340 MIPS/60 MSUs; the bidders shall also provide a hardware/software solution for the TCC's forecasted growth to a level of 780 MIPS/134 MSUs. The required platform shall also have a minimum of 1.0 GB Main Storage, 64 Parallel Channels, 32 ESCON Channels, and a cooling system that does not require external chilled water. Bids will be evaluated on a best value basis. The factors shall be full, life-cycle cost basis (to include the bidder's estimate of the increased software costs (upgrade and higher-tier maintenance fees) that the TCC shall incur for all software currently in production, with respect to the bidder's hardware solutions) and the proposed technical feasibility to satisfy the requirements cited herein. Bidders shall be provided a software listing upon request. The system will be acquired through a 36-month Lease To Own Purchase (LTOP); the bidders must propose 36 equal monthly lease payments. The awarded contract will contain a base year with 12 monthly lease payments and two option year periods with 12 monthly lease periods. The TCC also wishes bidders to provide (as options) monthly lease prices for additional "field installable" equipment, as follows: Processors; Main Storage, in 512MB increments or equivalent; 16 Parallel Channels (additional); 16 Parallel Channels (removed, trade-in); 16 ESCON Channels (additional); and any other items required to support these upgrade(s). All lease prices shall include full-service system maintenance for the life on the 36-month term. Bidders shall also provide an estimated delivery date. All other terms found in the original synopsis, unless changed herein, remain.
