S -- - NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD A SOLE-SOURCE CONTRACT TO BATTELLE PACIFIC NORTHWEST LABORATORY Notice of intent to enter into a sole source contract with Battelle Pacific Northwest Laboratories (BPNL) to: 1) locate instream monitors in the Snake River Basin, 2) download environmental data, 3) upgrade monitor capability for environmental monitors in several Idaho streams, and 4) train NMFS personnel in monitoring equipment and database operations. During period 1993-1997, BPNL has performed all four of the above tasks through funding provided by the Bonneville Power Administration. The BPNL will soon transfer the responsibility for the above tasks to the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS). Purpose of this contract is to have BPNL train NMFS on environmental monitoring system currently in place. BPNL has been performing this effort for four years and no other source capable of providing the required training for the transition. No requests for the solicitation will be honored since no other source capable of providing this service. This is a simplified acquisition with an estimated valueof less than $100,000.
