The US Postal Service, Greensboro Facilities Service office, is soliciting qualification statements from contractors desiring to be placed on a prequalified list for the design-build of new postal facilities in the states of North Carolina, South Carolina, Kentucky, Virginia and West Virginia. Seven projects have been identified for the current and upcoming fiscal year, and contingent upon site acquisitions, the potential projects are: Mooresville, NC, Greenwood, SC, Rockhill, SC, Madisonville, KY, Chester, VA, Spotsylvania, VA, and Petersburg, WV (the Postal Service reserves the right to add or delete projects as necessary). The above named projects range in size from approximately 15,000 sq. ft to 25,000 sq. ft with estimated construction cost between $1.8M and $2.4M. Future projects may range in size from 9,000 SF to 45,000 SF estimated construction costs of $700,000 to $7.5M. The building systems may vary, but in general they will consist of either metal studs, CMS, tilt-up concrete with brick veneer, or a combination thereof; steel structural systems, and a single-ply roofing membrane. Design-build completion schedules will be 270 to 300 days. Design-build contractors will be evaluated on the following criteria : a) completed two or more successful design-build projects of similar scopes and dollar ranges as projects indicated above within the last three years; b) provide proof of previous working relationship in a design-build team with the A-E firm(s) proposed for design; c) have license to perform architecture/engineering (A-E) services in the states where projects are located (these capabilities may be consultants to the prime general contractor); d) current workload and capacity in relation to the company resources; e) owner's references; and f) other criteria listed in the prequalification application. Interested firms must obtain a prequalification package, which will be available at no charge. This package may be obtained upon written request to the above address, Attn: Pat Kidd. Submittals must be on, or in the exact format of, the approved USPS Contractor Prequalification Forms contained in the prequalification package. A separate Prequalification Package must be submitted for each state you wish to be evaluated. Completed package must be received no later than close of business, April 22, 1997. Prequalification statements will be evaluated by a USPS committee, and all firms will be advised within 60 days of receipt of their application as to prequalification status. Firms selected as being the best qualified will be placed on the prequalification list for a period of two years (24 months). As projects are identified and approved for implementation, the prequalified contractors will receive Request for Proposals for specific projects. This is not a Request for Proposal.
