The Volpe Center is seeking interested companies that can provide INMARSAT Standard-C transceivers that meet the following specifications. The equipment must consist of the satellite transceiver, user interface unit with keyboard, antenna, cables and accessories and must fit a box with inside dimensions of: 4 1/2" X 17 7/8" X 12 7/8". The system must be capable of operating off a standard automotive 12 DC volts and 15 amps power supply. The system must be capable of activating a Land Mobile Alert Call. The operator display/keyboard interface unit to the INMARSAT Standard-C transceiver is required to have dimensions no greater than 2" X 5" X 9". This unit must provide a full keyboard interface for configuring the system and messaging features. There is also a requirement for a cable-attached, single action emergency switch that is capable of executing a Land Mobile Alert Call on the transceiver without the need for the keyboard. An auxiliary external antenna without restrictive dimensions for storage isalso required. The intended purpose of this equipment is for tracking vehicles and messaging. This notice is for informational purposes. All responsible sources may respond to this synopsis and all responses will be considered by the agency. Interested firms shall submit two (2) copies of descriptive literature for the transceiver and the switch to the contract specialist within 15 days from the published date of this notice in the CBD. Only written responses will be honored.
