Cincinnati, OH 45268 66 -- TWO PHOTON CONFOCAL MICROSCOPE IMAGING SYSTEM SOL PR-CI-97-10387
POC Billy Oden -- (513) 366-2126 WEB: Office of Acquisition Management
-- Cincinnati Contracts Management Division,
http://www.epa.gov/oam/cinn_cmd. E-MAIL: U.S. EPA -- Cincinnati
Contracts Management Division, oden.billy@epamail.epa.gov. The USEPA
intends to negotiate on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR
6.302, with Bio-Rad Laboratories for the acquisition of a turnkey,
installed Two-photon Confocal Microscope Imaging System. The system
shall be delivered with a 15 mW Krypton/Argon confocal laser with
emission lines at 488, 568 and 647 nm. The single photon laser shall be
coupled with a single mode polarization preserving fiber that is
mounted to allow 4-axis adjustments at the output. Filters shall be
included for imaging green, yellow/red and far red flourophores and
reflection samples, e.g. FITC/RHOD/Cy-5. Exciter filter set includes:
488DF10, 568DF10, 647DF10 and 488/568DF10. Emission filter set includes
522DF35, OG515, 585LP, 598HQ40, and 80DF32. Filter blocks included:
Triple Labeling Filter Block Set (T1 and T2A[560DCLP]), Singe
excitation filter set for simultaneous imaging of FITC and Texas Red
(A1/A2), Polarizing Beamsplitter (B1), one Open Block, and one block
with a dichroic for uncaging using the Ti-Sapphire wavelengths allowing
calcium distribution to be imaged using the Fluo-3 fluophore. For
2-photon excitation, the system shall be capable of accepting a
femto-second pulsed Ti-Sapphire laser tuned to excitation wavelength
raging from 690 to 950 nm. The periscope that couples the laser beams
to the scan head shall allow the beam height to be moved without
rotating the polarization. The system shall be equipped with combining
optics for mixing the output from the two-photon and fiber-delivered
confocal lasers. The basis for sole source negotiations is Bio-Rad
Laboratories' proprietary rights under the world-wide licensing
agreement between Bio-Rad and the patent owner of two photon confocal
microscopy technology, Cornell Research Foundation, the patent and
licensing arm of Cornell University. The patent number referred to in
the agreement is U.S. Patent No. 5034613. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR
PROPOSALS. Sources wishing to be considered must submit documentation
to the office identified above, which establishes the ability to
furnish turnkey, two photon confocal microscope systems as licensed to
Bio-Rad by Cornell Research Foundation. Documentation must be
submitted within 15 calendar days of publication of this notice.
