Diane Scherer, Diane.B.Scherer.1@gsfc.nasa.gov. NASA/GSFC plans to
issue a Request for Offer (RFO)5-08562-232 on a competitive basis for
a Global Position System (GPS) Attitude and Navigation Sensor (GANS).
The contractor shall provide the personnel, facilities and materials to
design, fabricate, assemble, develop, test and calibrate the GANS for
use on the Earth Orbiter-1(EO-1) spacecraft. The GANS will be used to
provide spacecraft navigation and attitude information throughout the
mission. The GANS shall provide three axis attitude, position,
velocity, ephemeris, and GPS time data within the required
specifications without any initialization from the ground. The GANS
shall send an internally generated health status word that can be used
to monitor the integrity of GANS subsystem and the data it provides.
GANS performance shall be achieved under the following nominal
operating conditions with selective availability (SA) enabled in any
circular, low Earth orbit (LEO) whose radius is less than 1000 Km. This
procurement is being conducted under the NASA MidRange Pilot Test
Program approved by the Office of Federal Procurement Policy. See
Numbered Note 26. All responsible sources may submit an offer which
shall be considered by the agency. The anticipated release date of the
RFO is on or about April 15, 1997, with an anticipated offer due date
of on or about May 15, 1997. An ombudsman has been appointed -- See
Note "B". The solicitation and any documents related to this
procurement will be available over the Internet. These documents will
be in ASCII or RTF format and will reside on a World-Wide Web (WWW)
server, which may be accessed using a WWW browser application. The WWW

shall notify this office of their intent to submit an offer. It is the
offeror's responsibility to monitor this site for the release of the

point of contact; however, the closing date for the hard copy received
shall be the same as the solicitation, inclusive of any amendments,
