Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration intends to enter into a sole
source contract with Research Triangle Institute to develop and
maintain a drug evidence data collection and analysis system. Along
with developing a database and data collection system the contractor
will be responsible for recruiting a minimum of fifty state and/or
local crime laboratories across the United States to participate in
submitting information on forensic and drug analysis developed in those
laboratories which will statistically develop patterns of controlled
substances found across the Country. The decision to enter into a sole
source contract is as a result of a sources sought announcement
synopsized on September 19, 1996 in the Commerce Business Daily and an
evaluation of the responses received. The intended source is: Research
Triangle Institute, Health and Social Policy Division, 3040 Cornwallis
Road, Reasearch Triangle Park, North Carolina 27709-2194. The Drug
Enforcement Administration will approach Research Triangle Institute
