The National Science Foundation (NSF) is soliciting proposals to collect and disseminate data on Federal Research and Development(R&D) and Science and Engineering (S&E) activities. Two surveys are conducted annually for this purpose. The Survey of Federal Funds for Research and Development (Federal Funds Survey) is used to collect R&D obligation and outlay data from all Federal agencies that conduct R&D programs. The survey of Federal Science and Engineering Support to Universities, Colleges, and Nonprofit Institutions (Federal S&E Support Survey) is used to collect from Federal agencies all categories of direct Federal S&E support to institutions of higher education in the United States and nonprofit institutions. Data obtained in these surveys will conform with similar NSF studies which measure the nature and extent of science activities in the Federal sector of the economy. NSF has been collecting these data annually for nearly 40 years. The solicitation will be available on or about April 4th, 1997.
