Krutz, Contracting Officer, (601) 686-5361 The U.S. Department of Agriculture, requires the necessary labor, materials, parts, equipment and supervision to Retrofit and Modernization of the Boiler Room in Building No. 2, USDA, ARS, Jamie Whitten Delta States Research Center, Stoneville, Mississippi. The work includes but is not limited to; remove asbestos-containing material from the piping that will be removed, replace burners on existing boilers, replace four existing heating water pumps with three new pumps, replace three existing feedwater pumps with three new pumps, replace existing boiler control panels and master control panels, replace existing steam-to-hot-water converter, replace existing safety controls on boilers, replace existing feedwater treatment system, provide testing of existing natural gas piping located within boiler room, provide new steam and condensate piping from the boiler room to the autoclaves and humidifiers located in building #1, connect boilers into existing Trane Trace 100 Building Automation System, replace refractory on boiler doors, replace existing chemical treatment equipment, replace existing automatic gas valves, replace steam valves on steam header, replace existing pressure reducing valve, ALT #1: converting the existing heating water system to a variable flow system and Alt #2: perform complete asbestos abatement of the entire boiler room as called for in the specifications. The work will be completed 120 days. An IFB will be issued on or about April 24, 1997. An estimated cost of this project is between $250,000. and $500,000.
