This announcement constitutes the only solicitation;proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. This SOLICITATION NUMBER N00174-97-R-0031 is issued as a request for proposal (RFP). The solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through FEDERAL ACQUISITION CIRCULAR #33. This solicitation is unrestricted. SIC is 3357 Description of Requirements: Item Characteristics 1. Aerial Fiber Cable (12 Fibers) Quantity : 52,000 ft Cable Characteristics The cable must be usable in aerial and direct bury applications. It must be moisture and UV resistant. . The cable must be all dielectric with the exception of the integrated messenger. The cable must be self-supporting figure 8 cable, with an integrated messenger of at least 1/4" diameter. Buffertubes must be 2.4 mm in diameter and contain 6 fibers each. The operating temperature range for the cable must be -40'C to +70'C or better. . Cable sheath should be marked every foot with sequential length markings in feet. . 6 of the fibers must be multimode and 6 of the fibers must be single mode. Multimode Fiber Characteristics The multimode fibers must have a core of 62.5 +/- 3.0 microns and a cladding of 125 +/- 2.0 microns. The multimode fibers must also have a core non-circularity of < 6.0% and a cladding non-circularity of < 2.0%. The numerical aperture of the multimode fiber must be 0.275 +/- 0.015. Minimum bandwidth for multimode fiber is >= 160 MHz.km @ 850nm and >=500 MHz.km @ 1300nm. Maximum attenuation for multimode fiber is 3.5 dB/km @ 850nm and 1.0 dB/km @ 1300nm. Singlemode Fiber Characteristics The singlemode fibers must have a core of 8.3 microns and a cladding of 125 +/- 1.0 microns. The singlemode fibers must have a cladding non-circularity of < 2.0%. The numerical aperture of the singlemode fiber must be 0.13. The core-clad offset must be <= 1.0 micron. Maximum attenuation for singlemode fiber is 0.5 dB/km @ 131Onm and 0.4 dB/km @ 1550nm. 2. Aerial Fiber Cable (24 Fibers) Quantity : 20,000 ft Cable Characteristics The cable must be usable in aerial and direct bury applications. It must be moisture and UV resistant. Interconnect Center, 24 port, wall mount Quantity : 75 ea. . It must contain a 24 port patch panel separating the premises (termination) side from the interconnect (user) side. . Each side must be locking using separate keys. . The premises side must support standard splice trays including up to 4 . SIECOR M67-060 trays. . Must have less than a 4" projection from the wall. . The patch panel sleeves must be ceramic and capable of supporting both multimode and singlemode ST connectors. . The premises side must have cable management hardware to ensure the fibers maintain a proper bend radius. 7. 10baseFL Transceivers Quantity : 75 ea. Transceiver must meet or exceed all specifications for 10baseFL. Transceiver must have I male AUI port and I pair of ST fiber optic ports. Transceiver must have LED to indicate the following conditions : link, receive, jabber, transmit, and collision.
