58 -- DIGITAL TAPE RECORDING SYSTEM SOL N66604-97-R-2309 DUE 052597 POC Contact Brett P. Griffin, COntracting Officer at (401) 841-2442 X X 222. FAX (401)841-4820. WEB: NAVAL UNDERSEA WARFARE CENTER DIVISION, NEWPORT, http://www.npt.nuwc.navy.mil/contract/. E-MAIL: Brett Griffin, Contracting Officer, griffin@code59.npt.nuwc.navy.mil. The Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division, Newport has a requirement for a tape recording system and the integration of that recording system into the Pacific Missile Range Facility(PMRF) at Barking Sands, Kauai, Hawaii. The intended use of the recording system will be to record hydrophone signals from the underwater tracking ranges. PMRF conducts Navy training exercises on the ranges and acoustically tracks torpedoes, submarines and underwater targets. An upgrade of the range will significantly in crease the number of hydrophones (up to 192) to be recorded. Therefore, it is anticipated that a special purpose digital recording system that dynamically assigns recording bandwidth depending on hydrophone select messages provided by the PMRF Underwater Tracking System Ethernet (UTS Net) will be necessary to handle the additional hydrophone requirements. At any one time at least 50 hydrophones will have to be recorded for PMRF to playback an exercise successfully. Thus, by recording only the hydrophones required to conduct the tracking function, overall bandwidth requirements are greatly reduced, which results in reduced hardware and storage media costs. A Firm Fixed Price contract for the recording system and installation is anticipated. The procurement is 100% small business set-aside. The Standard Industrial Code is 3679. The size status is 500 employees. Delivery will be destination at Pacific Missile Range Facility(PMRF) at Barking Sands, Kauai, Hawaii 180 days after contract award. A competiti ve solicitation utilizing best value evaluation criteria will be issued. Number Note 1 is applicable. All requests for the solicitation must be in writing on company letterhead. Include in request your name, address, telephone number, size of business, cage code and the solicitation number. Telephone requests will not be honored. You may FAX your request to (401)841-4820. All responsible sources may submit a proposal which shall be considered by the agency. (0087)
