The National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) has a requirement to rent a shipping cask, licensed by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to carry NIST Research Reactor spent fuel for transport from NIST, Gaithersburg, Maryland to the U.S. Department of Energy, Savannah River Site, South Carolina. The Government anticipates award of a firm-fixed-price, indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract and may make multiple awards. Delivery orders would be competed among the contractors with award being made to that contractor who provides the offer which represents the best value to the Government. The period of performance will be for two (2) years with the anticipation of making four (4) shipments during the life of the contract. Shipments are expected to begin in September 1997. Exact dates will be determined by the Department of Energy and will be provided to the contractor(s) when known. Additionally, the contractor may provide transport services as an option.
