66 -- METEOROLOGICAL BALLOONS SOL NWWG3220710322JAS POC Jackie Shewmaker, (816) 426-7129 ext. 221 The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) intends to purchase free-flight, single envelope, nonvented, freely-expanding meteorological balloons to support the National Weather Service (NWS) Upper Air Program. These balloons are used alone, or for carrying instrument payloads they ascend to heights in excess of 30 kilometers. Balloons must meet the performance requirement set forth in the NWS Specification Number J300-SP003 dated April 19, 1990. The types of balloons to be acquired are classified according to their weight, color and function. The Government intends to purchase 1680 each of 1000-gram, severe weather, radiosonde balloons to be shipped F.O.B. Destination to Kansas City, Missouri. This notice is issued to identify interested sources capable of manufacturing this type of balloon. Firms interested in this requirement must respond to this notice by providing the following information to the address identified herein, ATTN: Jackie Shewmaker: name, address and telephone number; business size; a brief narrative describing the firm's specialized experience and capability to provide the balloons; location of the production facility; and references from previous contracts for providing the same or similar items. Firms should submit their response within ten days after the date of this publication. A Request for Quotation (RFQ) will be issued approximately fifteen days after the publication of this notice which will provide a request number and other information pertinent to the requirement. This requirement falls under the small purchase limitation of $100,000. (0087)
